PETALS AND PETUNIA - A2/B1

In a very touching video two rescuers from Hope for Paws, an animal rescue organization from Los Angeles, try to entice and catch a stray dog who has taken shelter in a parking lot, under a truck. Once done, the dog was nicknamed Petunia. They immediately noticed that she was lactating and tried to find the puppies in the surroundings. They used the sound of crying puppies from YouTube to locate them, but only found one, which was named Petals.

to entice: to persuade somebody to do something or go somewhere, usually by offering them something

paw: the foot of an animal

spayed: to remove the ovaries of a female animal

leash: piece of chain or leather used for holding a dog

to lactate: to produce milk from the breasts to feed a baby animal

stuff: things (be careful when you step on stuffs)

nest: a place where animals (often birds) can bring up their babies

foster sister: the sister with whom you were raised for a period of time, in a family which is not yours by birth or adoption.
